Part One; I Love America

On Aug. 14, 1961, Congress passed an act, duly signed by President John F. Kennedy, which officially declared Uncle Sam Wilson of Troy, N.Y., to be the progenitor of America's national symbol.

Since 1976, The City of Troy has held a parade on the Sunday closest September 13th in honor of Uncle Sam's birthday.

Part Two; I Love You

The Upstate Girls Project  www.upstategirls.org  is a documentary that  began in 2004, and has chronicled the lives of young women in a North Troy Neighborhood as they have grown up and in and out of love.

Brenda Ann Kenneally has been documenting The City of Troy, New York since 2004. The economy in This City, that historians have argued to be the prototype for the industrialization of America, has shifted to the service sector as manufacturing in The U.S. continues to move overseas and technological advances decrease positions for unskilled laborers.
